In my humble opinion there were a great number of amazing dresses at the Emmy Awards this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by some, got what I expected from some, and still others redeemed themselves.
Let me just make it clear that I love long sleeves. Not because I want to cover up my arms, but because I view them as elegant. It is hard to come by a great long sleeve dress and even harder to come by one that could be worn in a formal setting. The ladies at the Emmys managed to excel in the area of long sleeves though.
First there was Mayim Bialik. You probably know her from a little show I used to love called “Blossom.” Bialik has stepped back into the spotlight over the past few years with recurring roles on ABC Family’s “Secret Life of the American Teenager” and CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory.” Her take on long sleeves was perfect in every way. Age appropriate, fantastic color, and the loose hair to the side balanced the other elements of the dress – such as the cowl neck, banded waist, and ruching – well.
Another great long-sleeve dress? Julianne Moore’s yellow number. Sheesh! Here whole look was perfection.
One actress that I loved, who didn’t don long sleeves, was Ginnifer Goodwin. If I had a girl crush, it would be on her. The pixie cut is still giving her edge and this dress was something to behold. Oh how I wish I could have seen in it person.
