Fall officially begins on September 23, 2014, so you better get ready now! For the past few seasons, trends have not changed much, but this year the color palettes are a little lighter and the styles are a little softer. And I love it.
One trend that has emerged and is flattering on many body shapes is the 60s. Fashion trends of the 1960s had some flattering silhouettes, including the swing dress, mini skirts and knee-high boots. First, let me state my case for swing dresses and A-line dresses. While both may not be flattering on everyone, one of the two looks good on most women. If you are looking to create a waste or have a killer midsection you want to show off, go for the A-line. If you are more pear or apple-shaped, try a swing dress.
Another trend I love is the sporty chic look. Bomber jackets, varsity jackets and sneakers abound in many designer lines and stores this fall. All of these items have chic elements that make them okay for grown ups including lace, leather and neutral color palettes. One of my favorite sporty picks is this bomber jacket from Torrid.
Another trend I’m feeling is fall and winter floral prints. This trend is seen in many dresses and skirts and I absolutely love it. Why not?? Two great examples of how cute this trend is, are the “I think I Canvas” dress at ModCloth and this Gabby Skye Floral Print dress at Nordstrom.
