Everyday is a New Day…When You’re Natural

Do you ever feel like your hair never does the same thing twice? Many naturals feel this way and the feeling is real. Your hair may look different each day even if you use the same products day in and day out. Each hair falls a different way. You sleep differently with your bantu knots, twists, pineapple or other method you use to preserve your hair each night. Newsflash though, this is not a bad thing.

As humans, we long for the next day, month, year, season in life. Each offers you a new opportunity to do right by yoru hair, skin and body in general. While this is easy to state now, it is not so easy to deal with when you want your hair to look a certain way when you are preparing for an important event. So what do you do?

First, it is probably not as bad as you think. In fact, your hair probably looks fine to other people! But if you’re not feeling it do some rearranging. Change or alter the part, stretch the hair out. Both of these can change your look in a hurry and may give you the look you were going for.

Second, accessorize! Accessories are my favorite way to correct any hair issues I feel I have. I love headbands and combs. I really can’t live without combs! Nothing is better than the good, old plastic Goody combs. They are sturdy and stay put all day, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier combs I’ve purchased. Also, always have a few hair pins to aid you in what I know can be the natural hair struggle.

  1. Great post! Not having a style look the same each time is a love/hate thing. Sometimes it’s frustrating, but I love seeing how my hair comes out!
