For many individuals, a new year means new beginnings and hitting the reset button in various areas of life. One of the top ways to start the new year is with updating your style – whether it be vowing to step out of the box fashion wise or trying a new hair style.
Last year I myself made a drastic color change and went blonder than I’d ever been before. I loved it. If you are looking to make a color change, here are some trends that are big right now. If new to color, make a gradual change to something more dramatic to see how your hair responds to color and how you like it.
Rich Red: I have been a red-head before and as most stylists will tell you, it is one of the most high maintenance colors you can choose. It fades out quickly, you absolutely must use shampoo and conditioner for color-treaded hair and as with any color treatment you have to keep hair moisturized. The reds we are seeing more often now are rich in hue. No brassy, orange or copper-tinted tresses please.
Primrose Gold: This color has become more and more popular in the last few months. Remember Raven Symone’s short blond/peachy hair color? Well, that is probably what your hair would look like if the Primrose Gold coloring process went astray. Teen sensation Meghan Trainer brought the color to the forefront and others are gradually experimenting with it.
Break up the Brunette: Brunettes are loving their highlights this winter. Dark brown hair can seem harsh and drab (depending on the cut of course) so it makes sense that brunettes are lightening up. We continue to see ombre, though more subtle than we saw in the summer. What’s bigger now though are salted caramel highlights.
